小羊羔 ૮꒰˵• ﻌ •˵꒱ა

my wool over your eyes

i am just a little thing dropped into the earth,
dancing supine in the dirt as is my right—
my right! my small, inoffensive life
lived bigger than the sheepdog's fold
and more dishonest than the hungry wolf:
all this may be worthless
to the all-seeing, all-knowing,
and that being the case, who will think twice
if i unhinge my jaw a fraction more
and cut into the night?
who dares begrudge
my bad words and bad thoughts breathed
into the grass? collecting like dew
in the morning, by which time i face you
clean and white.
